Stand-up pouches (and flexible packaging in general) cost significantly less and have substantial weight and resource savings than rigid packaging such as paper cartons, rigid plastic, glass or cans. Pouches are very space-efficient during distribution and storage, providing cost savings from labor to fuel.
Pouch packaging is very easy and cost-effective to customize or change everything from format to features to printing. They offer protection against moisture, contaminants, UV rays and more.
Perhaps the biggest benefit of stand-up pouches is simply the amount of real estate brands can use to stand out on the shelf – because the largest printable surface of the package stands up and faces the customer.
Developed in the late 1980s by what is now the Plastics Industry Association in the U.S., RIC stands for Resin Identification Code. RIC is a set of symbols and numbers that appear on plastic products that identify the plastic resin out of which the product is made, which helps with collection and sorting prior to recycling.
RIC4 – LDPE designates a plastic item made from low density polyethylene (LDPE) such as lightweight bags and flexible films. RIC4 – LDPE is used for AUTOBAG® SidePouch bags because we have certified some of the material options to be compatible with current RIC4 recycling streams. In most cases in the U.S. RIC4 – LPDE is considered “store-drop off” recyclable, where such programs exist.
