SEE's Cushioned Mailer Wins Sustainable Packaging News Award 2022

Last year, SEE's cushioned mailer PickPack* format won in the Resource Efficiency Award category at the Sustainable Packaging News Awards 2022.

Our unique cushioned mailer PickPack format – an extension of our recycle-ready cushioned mailers – reduces the amount of packaging weight by 60%, and its tight overwrap reduces the volume of the package. These features enable more cartons per pallet, reduce the number of trucks on the road and associated CO2 emissions, plus save on shipping costs.

After launching our recycle-ready cushioned mailers, where the outer paper layer can be easily separated from the internal bubble (which contains a minimum of 60% recycled material) and can be recycled in the appropriate waste streams, the next step on our sustainability journey was to create a more environmentally responsible shipping package.

Our team wanted to consider the whole lifecycle and wider impact of the package i.e. ‘More than a Pack, in Less than a Box.’ Our U.K. packaging development team began the innovation process and created our cushioned mailer PickPack format, which replaced a standard corrugated carton box with four cardboard trays overwrapped with CRYOVAC® brand CT304 shrink film and an easy-opening tear tape. Our CRYOVAC® brand CT304 shrink film features high performance at just 14µ (microns).

*The cushioned mailer PickPack format is currently only available in the U.K.
