Achieving EN15343 certification is more than just a compliance milestone; it’s a crucial step for businesses committed to sustainability. This European standard ensures traceability and quality of recycled plastics, making it essential for organisations aiming to reduce their environmental footprint. At Sealed Air, we are proud to share that our Aneby factory in Sweden and Ozarow in Poland have earned this certification, highlighting our dedication to sustainability and operational excellence.
What is EN15343 Certification?
EN15343 certification is a European standard designed to track the traceability and quality of recycled plastic materials across the supply chain. It guarantees that recycled content, whether post-consumer or post-industrial, meets stringent quality and accountability requirements. This certification ensures businesses can validate the authenticity of recycled materials and their sustainability claims.
Benefits of EN15343 Certification
For organisations focused on sustainability, achieving this certification provides the following advantages:
- Transparency: EN15343 ensures that recycled plastic products meet the claimed recycled material percentages, building trust and reducing greenwashing risks.
- Circular Economy Advancement: The certification promotes the use of recycled plastics, reducing demand for virgin materials and helping conserve resources.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stricter sustainability regulations across Europe, especially for packaging, make EN15343 a critical tool to meet and anticipate legislative requirements.
- Brand Credibility: Consumers increasingly value environmentally responsible brands. Certification strengthens reputation and showcases commitment to environmental goals.
- Operational Efficiency: Certified organisations adopt rigorous processes to manage recycled materials effectively, creating operational improvements and setting a standard for best practices.
Our Success at our Plants in Sweden and Poland
Our Aneby factory in Sweden recently achieved EN15343 certification, setting us apart as a leader in sustainable practices. Several of our product lines, including Stratocell® E-HR (60% recycled content), are now certified. Our plans include raising content to 65% by the end of the year, further demonstrating our commitment to innovation and sustainability.
Our plant in Poland has also achieved EN15343 certification for all our 65% HRC content specialty foams products and 30% recycled content in our Ethafoam® 220 extruded plank, marking another significant step in our sustainability journey. This accomplishment underscores our continuous efforts to innovate and enhance the sustainability of our product range.
Our customers benefit directly from our certification through confidence in high-quality materials, enhanced sustainability performance, and the ability to demonstrate environmental impact to stakeholders.
