At SEE, celebrating our people and their accomplishments is a core part of our culture. In our “Meet: Our People” series, you’ll hear directly from our people across the globe on what it’s like working at SEE, and a little bit about them outside of work.
Where are you located? Fort Mill, S.C., U.S.A.
How long have you been at SEE? Just hit two years.
What’s your favorite part of your position? My favorite part about my position is to create a work environment that my team feels safe and comfortable in, and to be able to come to me with questions or concerns pertaining to the job.
What is your favorite mantra or quote? “As you go through life, find as much good as you possibly can. But never expect too much from life.”
Do you have any hobbies or activities you like to do outside of the office? I really enjoy watching hockey with my partner. We both enjoy watching the N.Y. Islanders and Seattle Kraken. I also love watching movies and I do a bit of reading every day. A book I recently enjoyed was “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.”
What advice do you have for people looking to start their careers or become leaders today? Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and wait until you are comfortable taking the step. It’s your own time and, while it is tempting to take a leap before you’re ready, there is no shame in preparing.
What do you wish you knew 20 years ago that you know now? No matter how much you prepare, life will not always follow your plan; learn to roll with the punches before they knock you down.
Who are some of your role models? No one in the LGBTQIA+ community would be where we are without Marsha P. Johnson with something as important as Stonewall Uprising; it is important to know where bravery stems from. George Michael is also very important to me as well as Janelle Monae.
