Ten years ago, AECOC, the Iberian Association of Manufacturers and Distributors, started an initiative, named "Food can't be wasted. Take advantage of it!"
With this, Sealed Air (the only packaging supplier among those involved), food processors, retailers and HORECA (hotel, restaurant, café, catering) companies came together to create awareness around food waste, when the sensitivity in the market and consumers was very low.
In September 2022, during the AECOC Meeting Point against Food Waste held in Madrid, SEE was awarded for 10 years of cooperation in this important initiative. SEE is proud of this award and the position of our company as the only packaging supplier supporting this initiative since the beginning.
The AECOC Meeting Point against Food Waste is an event that brings together more than 300 professionals from the agri-food chain with the aim of joining forces and fighting hand in hand against food waste. Every year, outstanding national and international success stories are analyzed at the meeting, promoted by all the links in the chain, from the primary sector to retail distribution, which allow us all to find good practices to inspire us to fight against waste.
Josep Maria Bonmati, AECOC CEO said in the event introduction "The contribution of packaging to the reduction of food waste and the increase of food safety make them essential for our society. It has been reinforced and highly appreciated during the pandemic,” said AECOC CEO Josep Maria Bonmati during the event introduction.
With more than 31,000 associated companies, AECOC is one of the largest business associations in Spain and the only one that brings together all the agents in the value chain, from producers and manufacturers to logistics operators and distributors. A multi- sector association that includes companies from the FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods), HORECA, Health, Hardware and DIY, and Consumer Electronics, among other sectors, and that work in collaboration to provide greater value to the Consumer.
