Cryovac® Darfresh® Bloom Combines Vacuum, MAP into Single Pack
DUNCAN, S.C. (Oct. 24, 2007) – The Cryovac® Darfresh® Bloom package brings vacuum and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) processes together in the same pack to reap the benefits of both technologies. Specifically designed for use with fresh red meat by Sealed Air’s Cryovac Food Solutions, this new case ready package prolongs shelf life and keeps red meat an attractive bright red color.
Since the Darfresh® Bloom package also is easily opened, it is more convenient for consumers to use.
The Darfresh® Bloom package is comprised of three webs, starting with a rigid barrier bottom web that is formed online into a tray. Then, a permeable top vacuum skin web holds the meat close to the bottom web with a hermetic seal, while a top lidded barrier web maintains the gas mixture inside the package and provides a flat surface. Between the two top webs, a MAP compartment holds the gas mixture.
The reduced headspace offers an ideal package size and optimized retail shelf utilization. The drip-proof, secure package is ideal for vertical display in the retail case and requires no absorbent pad thanks to the vacuum-skin technology.
The Darfresh® Bloom package also offers excellent promotional options for the top and bottom webs, including printing in up to 10 colors for the top web. Also, the MAP compartment is available to insert promotional materials such as leaflets.
The Darfresh® Bloom package is ideally suited for case ready, modified atmosphere packaging applications covering a wide variety of fresh red meat. The shelf life of the Darfresh® Bloom package is at least equivalent to that achieved by standard MAP tray lidding.
This innovative package is formed online and is suited to run on the Multivac® RCD equipment range dedicated to the Cryovac® Darfresh® concept.
