Instapak® Pedestal Molding™ System Simplifies and Speeds Up Molding Process

DANBURY, Conn. (Oct. 15, 2007) - The newest molding system from Sealed Air makes it faster and easier to create custom, highly protective and economic Instapak® cushions. The Instapak® Pedestal Molding™ system, in conjunction with the Instapak® 900 Series hand-held foam dispensing system, allows customers to create cushions without limit to mold cavity depth or minimum wall thickness. The basic Instapak® Pedestal Molding™ system can be modified in different ways to produce molded cushions for a variety of applications.

The Instapak® Pedestal Molding™ system simplifies the molding process by raising the engineered mold image out of the molding cavity for quick and easy placement of the Instapak® Pedestal Molding™ packaging film. This eliminates the need to tuck a large flat sheet of packaging film into the mold cavity before dispensing liquid foam into the mold.

Operating the Instapak® Pedestal Molding™ system is simple:

The operator places an Instapak® Pedestal Molding™ bag over a raised pedestal with a custom-designed image of the item to be shipped.
The simple vacuum motor draws the film around the image and pedestal where the film can be easily repositioned as necessary to reduce or eliminate webbing and wrinkles.
The operator lowers the pedestal so that the Instapak® Pedestal Molding™ bag is pulled inside out and now lines the inside of the mold cavity. The operator then hand dispenses the foam over the film-covered item and pedestal.
The operator lines the lid with film and closes the mold.
Once the foam has cured, the lid is opened, the pedestal is raised and the newly formed cushion is removed.

The Instapak® 900 series system, used for hand-held foam dispensing, is fast, easy and versatile, allowing for on-site production of polyurethane foam packages, while giving customers the flexibility to adjust the amount of foam dispensed.
