Cryovac® Technology Provides Retail and Consumer Solutions at the 2007 International Poultry Expo

DUNCAN, S.C. (Jan. 24, 2007) –Sealed Air’s Cryovac® Food Packaging will showcase the latest automated poultry packaging systems and convenience packaging products at the 2007 International Poultry Exposition in Atlanta. The Cryovac® 8800E rotary chamber vacuum packaging machine, Cryovac® saddle pack-style poultry package and Cryovac® Simple Steps package will be featured Jan. 24 through Jan. 26 at the Cryovac® booth #1244 at the Georgia World Congress Center.

Cryovac® equipment systems represent the latest in automation technology and help create more continuous product flow, eliminating production bottlenecks. The Cryovac® 8800E rotary chamber vacuum packaging machine is a fully automatic, all-in-one bag loading, vacuumizing and sealing machine. Requiring minimal product handling, the 8800E operates at speeds up to 15 cycles per minute and contains a PLC control with a diagnostic system to increase uptime, in addition to an automatic central lubrication system that prevents premature wear. This system is ideal for vacuum packaging further processed poultry products.

A 2006 WorldStar Award winner, the Cryovac® saddle pack-style poultry package offers versatile meal preparation and easy storage. The package is made from a special, breathable Cryovac® rollstock thermoform film and consists of six perforated pockets enabling consumers to easily separate portions for meal preparation. The remaining portions can be refrigerated or frozen in the original packaging and stored for later use. The saddle pack-style package is a hermetically sealed multi-unit vacuum package that is leak-resistant. Poultry cases and checkout scanners stay cleaner and more sanitary, and shoppers do not have to handle wet, sticky packages. The saddle pack is suitable for both bone-in and boneless poultry portions. It was developed in collaboration with poultry processor Gold Kist Inc.

Also on display will be the Cryovac® Simple Steps microwaveable package, which offers to busy consumers a quick and simple way to put dinner on the table with no fuss or mess. Its vacuum-skin film contours to the product giving it its most appetizing presentation and making it easier for shoppers to see their dinnertime selection. The package’s self-venting technology eliminates microwave splattering, the risk of steam burns and the need to puncture ventilation holes in the package’s film. This innovative technology is ideal for retail and foodservice.
