Sealed Air/Cryovac Showcases Automated Bag Loading Technology at 2003 Worldwide Food Expo
DUNCAN, S.C. (Oct. 29, 2003) - Cryovac Food Packaging Division of Sealed Air Corporation will spotlight automation at the 2003 Worldwide Food Expo from Oct. 29 to Nov. 1, 2003. Visitors to booth N-1220 at McCormick Place in Chicago can view Cryovac® automated bag loading systems and see how the systems’ integrated design approach including loading, conveying and chamber vacuumizing can create more continuous product flow, eliminating production bottlenecks.
On display will be the Cryovac® BL-125, a vertical bag loader for fresh red meat. This bag loader is a fully automatic, gravity-assisted system with speeds up to 22 cycles per minute that can package meat in 7-inch to 9-inch boxed or rolled taped bags. The Cryovac® BL-125 is especially designed for handling products such as eye of round, beef tenderloin and boneless pork loins.
Cryovac® BL-135 Smart Rack, a rolled, serrated bag dispenser designed to work with manual loading systems, enables packers to print bags inline. With thermal transfer printing capabilities, the Smart Rack can print 2-inch by 4-inch monochrome graphic images on bags. A key advantage of the Smart Rack is that it reduces companies’ pre-printed bag inventories in plant.
The Cryovac® 8604 Dual Lane Infeed is a custom conveyor designed for easy clean-up and meets ready-to-eat sanitation requirements. The conveyor has a simplified electrical interface with rotary chamber machines and a digital operator interface. Available in three widths, the Cryovac® 8604 Dual Lane Infeed can meet customers’ product flow to and from Cryovac® packaging equipment.
An additional packaging system on display in the Cryovac® booth is the Cryovac® 8800E rotary chamber vacuum packaging machine, a fully automatic, all-in-one bag loading, vacuumizing and sealing machine. Requiring minimal product handling, the 8800E operates at speeds up to 15 cycles per minute and contains a PLC control with a diagnostic system to increase uptime, in addition to an automatic central lubrication system that prevents premature wear.
