Cryovac® Automated Loading Systems - A Full Line of Options That Can Take Cents per Pound from the Cost of Loading

DUNCAN, S.C. (June 7, 2004) - The Cryovac Food Packaging Division of Sealed Air Corporation has unveiled a family of automated vertical bag loading systems for packaging an array of fresh red meat, smoked and processed meats and poultry products.

Since efficient space utilization is such a critical issue for any meat processing operation, Cryovac® automated vertical loading systems are designed to ensure that minimal floor space is used within the plant. These systems are designed to use gravity as the loading force.

Cryovac® automated loading systems can easily and efficiently adapt to existing production operations. Because product handling is reduced, simpler and safer tasks are created for employees and training time also is reduced. Combined with integrated conveying, automated bag loaders can create more continuous product flow, eliminating production bottlenecks.

Included in the Cryovac® family of automated vertical bag loading systems are the following:

Cryovac® BL-120 is a fully automated bag loader and hock breaker for whole broilers. The system works by dropping whole chickens from a shackle line into taped CryovacÒ 805 Whole Chicken bags and breaking the hocks. The broiler is shaped and prepared for vacuumizing and sealing on a CryovacÒ 8600 Rotary Chamber Soft-Vacuum system. The BL-120 operates at speeds up to 14 cycles per minute and handles bag sizes up to 81/2 inches wide by 15 inches long. The 805 Whole Chicken package is a leak-resistant, hermetically sealed vacuum bag that virtually eliminates retailers’ concerns about wet, sticky packages, and creates dryer poultry display cases.

Cryovac® BL-125 is a fully automated vertical bag loader for fresh meat that advances and opens Cryovac® taped bags to accept gravity-fed products from an in-feed conveyor located above the machine. The BL-125 is ideal for loading multiple pieces or long, slender cuts like beef tenderloin, eye-of-round, boneless pork loins, pork back ribs and butterfly loins. It can handle bag widths from 7 inches to 9 inches dispensed from rolls or boxes. The BL-125 operates at speeds up to 20 cycles per minute.

Cryovac® BL-126 is a fully automated vertical bag loader that advances and opens Cryovac® taped bags to accept gravity-fed products from an in-feed conveyor located above the machine. The BL-126 is suitable for a range of products including loose meat, beef knuckles, top butts, flats, cooked beef briskets, whole turkeys and bone-in turkey breasts. It can handle bag widths from 10 inches to 14 inches dispensed from rolls or boxes. The BL-126 operates at speeds up to 20 cycles per minute.

Cryovac® 8604 Dual Lane Infeed is a custom conveyor designed for easy clean-up. The system meets ready-to-eat sanitation requirements and has a simplified electrical interface with Cryovac® rotary chamber machines. Bagged product from the BL-125 or BL-126 can be staged on the 8604 conveyor, then vacuumized and sealed on a Cryovac® 8600 Series Rotary Vacuum Chamber Machine.
