New Fill-Air RF Inflatable Packaging System Offers Two Inflation Choices for Cost-Effective Void Fill

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. (May 28, 2003) - Sealed Air’s new inflatable packaging system inflates cushions faster, provides more cushioning protection and has greater versatility. The Fill-Air RF inflatable packaging system produces cushions with superior air retention under load for void fill applications. The inflatable cushions also have an extended valve that enables easier inflation and adds flexibility when cushions are used for blocking and bracing.

This new inflatable packaging system is easy to use and requires minimal training. The operator simply packs the products to be shipped into a box, leaving one void space. After selecting the appropriate cushion size, the operator inserts the inflator nozzle into the extended valve of the inflatable cushion and places the cushion on top of or around the products. Once three of the four box flaps are closed, the operator presses the control button on the inflator wand inflating the cushion until the void is filled.

The Fill-Air RF system is available with two methods of inflation - pneumatic and portable. Ideal for individual and online workstations, the Fill-Air RF Pneumatic Inflator uses shop air and plugs into a standard 110-volt outlet. The Fill-Air RF Portable Inflator also uses a standard 110-volt outlet, and has a hinged wand and flexible hose. This system can be setup anywhere because it does not need shop air. In addition, both inflators are capable of producing up to six cubic feet of void fill material per minute. The Fill-Air RF system is compact and eliminates the need for bulky equipment or overhead bins.

The cushions are shipped and stored flat for on-demand inflation and use. One carton of size 16 by 21-inch bags is equivalent to 18 bags of loose fill, reducing material volume by 90 percent compared to paper and loose fill. Also, if a shipment needs to be unpacked or repackaged, the cushion can be deflated and stored for use at a later time, further decreasing supply expenses and storage space.

An ideal packaging system for warehousing operations, and distribution and fulfillment companies, the Fill-Air RF system produces a cost-effective, professional package for shipping products including computer software, health and beauty aids, office products, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics or toys. The six sizes of Fill-Air RF inflatable cushions - ranging from 9 inches by 11 inches to 18 inches by 36 inches - easily accommodate filling a variety of void spaces.
