Sealed Air’s Cryovac® Oxygen Scavenging System Provides Economical Means to Trigger OS Films

Cryovac® Model 4212 Scavenging Initiation System Triggers Invisible Scavenger on Command

DUNCAN, S.C. (March 28, 2006) - The Cryovac® Model 4212 Scavenging Initiation System is an automated triggering unit designed to activate on command the unique oxygen scavenging performance of Cryovac® OS Films. The triggering unit effectively activates the OS Film that removes residual oxygen from the package atmosphere, enabling food manufacturers to deliver fresher products to customers.

Once the optimum triggering dose is set for the product and conditions, the Model 4212 automatically adjusts the amount of ultraviolet light exposure the OS Film receives. Since its 12 lamps never shut off, maintenance costs are minimized and customers receive the maximum useful life available from the lamps. The 4212’s inventory section controls web tensions as film enters the packaging line. This new design significantly improves web handling and print registration control.

Designed for improved economy and efficiency, the Cryovac® Model 4212 triggering unit minimizes the amount of film inventory in the unit. After operations are stopped, only four feet of triggered film remains in the 4212. This film may be used for up to 30 minutes after being triggered, minimizing waste.

The Cryovac® Model 4212 is constructed of stainless steel and is spray-compatible for sanitation purposes. It is designed for use with existing packaging lines.
