Sealed Air Corporation Wins Prestigious Industry Awards
Company Takes Home Three WorldStar Awards for Packaging Innovation
SADDLE BROOK, N.J. (Feb. 25, 2004) – Sealed Air Corporation, a leading manufacturer of protective packaging, today announced it has received the 2003 WorldStar Award – the packaging industry’s highest international honor – for three of its packaging formats.
Sealed Air’s Cryovac® Simple Steps™ heat-and-serve package will take home the award for the "Food" category, garnering recognition for its innovative technology and consumer-friendly features. In addition, Sealed Air’s Korrvu® retention packaging won in the "Other" category for its High-Performance China Pack, a protective package for china designed specifically for Replacements Ltd. The third winner, Sealed Air’s Personal Computer Transport Pack, excelled in the "Electronics" category due to its unique packaging design for computers, which includes Sealed Air’s Stratocell® polyethlyene foam for cushioning. Another packaging format – the Durosafe package from Duropack, which uses Korrvu® retention packaging as an integral part of its package design – also won in the "Other" category.
The WorldStar Awards, given by the Sweden-based World Packaging Organisation, are presented annually to recognize excellence in packaging. The 2003 WorldStar award winners were selected by a panel of judges from the World Packaging Organisation and International Packaging Press Organization. Winners were chosen from more than 300 package formats from 34 countries, with the highest honors going to packages excelling in design innovation, protection, economics, performance, marketing and environmental impact.
Cryovac® Simple Steps™ heat-and-serve package brings operational benefits to processors while ensuring that products are kept fresh and protected during shipping and distribution. With the Simple Steps™ package, processors can fully cook and distribute center-of-the-plate entrées, such as beef tips, pot roast, pork roast, pulled pork and chicken breasts, in the same package. While the cook-in technology is more efficient for processors, it gives shoppers high-quality entrées that have undergone minimal handling.
In the High-Performance China Pack designed for Replacements Ltd., Sealed Air’s Korrvu® retention packaging ensures that china is protected during shipping and distribution. Korrvu® retention packaging uses a proprietary retention frame and elastomeric film to hold china pieces securely in place during shipment.
Sealed Air’s Personal Computer Transport Pack is a high performance computer pack for the packaging and transportation of desktop PCs. The Transport Pack uses Stratocell® polyethlyene foam which provides excellent cushioning properties. Designed with folding hinges and expansion joints, the cushions use a minimal amount of material. Stratocell® foam protects products throughout the shipping cycle and is formulated to withstand multiple drops.
